“LAND OF THE JAGUARS"
Brazil is a true paradise for wildlife photography enthusiasts. It is one of the world's most biodiverse regions, with unique landscapes and ecosystems, including the Pantanal. The area is particularly renowned for jaguar sightings along the region's many rivers. Located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Pantanal is one of the world's largest wetlands, covering almost 140,000 km². It is a unique place in the world, teeming with exceptional flora and fauna: a paradise for wildlife photographers.
Why visit Brazil ?
The Pantanal is without doubt the best place in the world to photograph the mighty Jaguar in optimal conditions. You'll have great opportunities to see them moving, hunting, swimming, interacting and much more. Days can often exceed 10 hours of safari activity as you search for Jaguars and spend time photographing them in wild habitats. It's an experience you'll simply never forget. What makes this adventure so unique is the fact that you approach these animals from a boat, positioned as low as possible. In addition to the jaguar, the Pantanal is home to a wide variety of incredibly colorful birds, hundreds of caimans and the impressive giant otters.
When to visit Brazil ?
The best time to go on safari in Brazil is during the dry season from May to October. This is when the animals move closer to the watercourses to drink and feed. The further into the dry season you go, the greater the chance of photographing hunting jaguars. However, it's also the busiest time of the year, and some sightings can be saturated in my opinion. That's why I particularly like July: the vegetation is still very colorful, the light is lower throughout the day and there are far fewer other boats present. It all depends on what you're looking for, and it's quite possible to leave the crowded areas in high season to find other jaguars in more remote areas.
